The Brief

The Everywhere API Challenge is a call to the startup community to propose innovative ideas that can fundamentally alter consumer experiences by leveraging the Visa APIs offered through the Visa Developer Platform.

The Visa Developer Platform offers APIs that accelerate access to Visa’s products and services including payment methods such as Visa Checkout

The Everywhere API Challenge is a tremendous opportunity for startups focused on consumer engagement, wearable solutions, IoT, P2P value transfer, charitable giving and financial inclusion.

The Brief

Today’s dominant social media platforms are hubs for connection, shared experience and engagement. And at the world’s most recognizable global events, these platforms transform into a window, giving fans the ability to experience activities in and around the event itself. They also become touch-points for friends and families to share once-in-a lifetime experiences while providing fans the opportunity to capture and relive shared experiences and make lasting memories.

For event-sponsoring brands like Visa, these social platforms present an opportunity to create authentic brand engagement with fans both in the moment and the future. That is why Visa is launching the Everywhere Global Events Challenge, a call to startups to creatively leverage today’s dominant social media channels to spark Visa brand engagement amongst fans at Visa-sponsored events. This is an uncommon opportunity for young companies in the mobile, social and digital marketing spaces to impact millions and gain exponential trajectory while working directly with one of the most recognizable brands in the world.

The Brief

Today, consumers store their payment details on all types of digital platforms whether that be a merchant website, merchant app or mobile digital wallet. Inertia can be a powerful force and consumers often have a set it and forget it mentality when it comes to their default stored payment details (industry speak: “card on file”) on these digital platforms.  So there is incredible value for Visa to

be the loaded default payment choice on these platforms. While monetary incentives can be a powerful way to drive card loads of Visa as the card on file, these incentives tend to be very costly and temporary in nature. Outside of direct monetary incentives or promotions (e.g. get $20 back, 10% off, etc.), how can Visa drive consumers to not only load their Visa card, but keep their Visa card as the default card on file on existing and emerging digital platforms?
